CHRISTMAS STEREOTYPES THAT SHOULD STOP BEFORE NEXT CHRISTMAS

A stereotype is a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing. This is a dictionary meaning of stereotype. There are stereotyped people who are prevented from doing the same thing other people are doing either because of their gender or where they come from or even their traditions.

  • Restricting Female Children To The Kitchen

The instance of female children could be restricted to the kitchen instead of playing with toys with the male kids. In fact, a new study has shown that last year’s Christmas catalogs are still a long way from avoiding gender stereotyping children.

  • Toy Restrictions

Now unsurprising, the boys are much more likely to be seen playing with cars. Boys also account for 97% of the children playing with guns and war toys. Only one boy is seen playing with a doll, with male children also likely to be seen playing with construction toys.

  • Gender Stereotypes On Kids

I would say let toys be toys regardless of the gender when you are getting a Christmas gift for your child do not assume there are toys meant for boys and toys meant for girls. You could buy a construction toy for a girl child and even a doll for a male child, there is nothing wrong with doing that.

  • Aiming For The Perfect Christmas

When you hear others talk about having a perfect Christmas, do not get carried away. It is just a mirage. This idea in their head leads them into wanting to do so much, buy so much and at the end of it all, they get stressed for nothing.

Understanding the fact that the season of Christmas is simply the season of love and cheer and not a time to work yourself out over a fantasy, will help you enjoy the fun and thrills of the season.
