Learn to Decorate Your Lighted Christmas Tree Branches
Nothing can take away the time-honored tradition of decorating Christmas tree branches. Even if modernity has replaced real evergreens with prelit varieties, we’re not going to stop hanging decorations on tree branches.
Don’t you agree? There are few simple pleasures of joy left and hanging ornaments and decoration items around the beautiful evergreen tree is one. We wait an entire year to do it and have prelit trees does not mean we have to let go of this simple pleasure.
If you have come here looking for ideas of how to decorate your lighted Christmas tree branches, we have some easy and fantastic ones for you.
1. Start with the Garland
Now that you don’t have to untangle and wrap strings of lights around your trees, you can start off with the garlands. Pick the garlands you have for the season and drape them lovingly, in circles around the tree.
We suggest starting at the top of the tree because it keeps branches from cinching too tightly with the garland strands. As you keep moving downwards, keep increasing the amount of garland you are taking. You must use at least two garland strands for every foot of your tree vertically.
2. Choose a Ribbon if not Garlands
In case you don’t have garlands on hand, you could choose ribbons for the tree. You can wrap your ribbons lightly around the entire tree in horizontal patterns. Or if you are putting garlands too, then you can make big bows with ribbons and tie them to the tips of the branches.
You could even tie ribbons from the ends of the branches to flow in cascading streams downwards.
3. Next, the Ornaments
Prelit trees are almost like real ones. The only difference is that they take the burden of draping strings of Christmas lights off your hands. They’re also way more convenient and quicker to setup than traditional trees.
Hence, you don’t need to ditch the rest of your traditional route of decoration. Once your tree is standing in place, you can proceed to decorate it just as you would in childhood with your parents. So take the ornaments out of the cartons and go around hanging them onto the prelit tree branches.
Just as we would with traditional trees, we want our favorite and special ornaments to take center stage on our prelit tree. So you must pick your most special ornaments first and hang them around the front portion of the tree.
Space your ornaments evenly around. Also, try to use several textures and sizes from the top to bottom for a more balanced look. The general rule for ornaments is to hand the smaller ones at the top while the larger ones go on the bottom branches.
Since we’re talking about a prelit tree here, we must be careful about strategically placing our ornaments. Your goal must be to hang ornaments closer to the trunk that will reflect more light. This will also create more depth and interest to the overall effect of your tree.
The tree may be artificial but you can customize it your specialty items, such handmade icicles and ornaments. Round off the final effect with a beautiful tree topper.
